A national Native American non-profit organization, the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society, serves as a communication medium for self-determined Native American fish and wildlife managers.

We serve as a communication network between tribal, federal, and state fish and wildlife management entities.

Southwest Region Partnering and Planning Technical Workshops

Our Southwest Region has been busy in partnering and planning technical workshops for 2018. As of date the following have been scheduled:

*New Mexico Prairie Dog Working Group will be meeting on March 19, 2018 on the Sandia Pueblo. This meeting is being partnered with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
*SW Native American Workshop on Bats will be held on May 30-21, 2018 at the BIA office in Albuquerque. We are partnering with the BIA and USGS.
*Fisheries Techniques Workshop will be held on July 23-26, 2018 on the San Carlos Reservation. Partners for this workshop are the USFWS, SW Tribal Fisheries Commission and Bass Pro Shop.

The Southwest will also be presenting updates on the Society planned activities at the following meetings:

*The Arizona Inter-Tribal & USFWS Annual Coordination meeting April 4-5, 2018, being held at the Prescott Resort & Conference Center, hosted by the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe.
*The New Mexico Inter-Tribal ESA Coordination Meeting held at the USFWS Field Office, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, TBD.

The Southwest Region will also present an update of the efforts of the Tribes and USFWS of drafting the Native American Policy Implementation Policy at the NAFWS National Conference in May.
