Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC) for Tribal Nations

June 10-13, 2025 at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Vian, OK

DOIs Motorboat Operator Certification Course gives participants the training required to permit the operation watercraft. It reviews minimum requirements for safe operation of motorboats and includes a review of legal requirements, preparations, navigation, operations, emergency procedures, rescue, self-rescue, trailering, fire suppression, and basic seamanship. The course includes both classroom and on-the-water instruction. There is an on-the-water practical exam during which the student must demonstrate certain skills to pass as well as a written exam with a passing grade of 70 required.

*NAFWS members receive exclusive registration access to this course until March 28th.*

NAFWS members or Member Tribes: There will be no registration costs for NAFWS members or member Tribes. You must log in to access the member price.

NAFWS Non-member: If you are not a member or from a non-member Tribe, registration opens on March 29th and the cost of this course is $150.

CLEO participants will be given priority for spots in the course. The deadline to register for this training is Friday, May 9.

This workshop will be capped at 12 participantsPlease limit registration to two representatives per Tribe or Tribal Organization.  

Lodging: NAFWS will provide 4 nights of lodging (9th-12th) to participants at the Cherokee Casino Hotel, 109 Cherokee Blvd, Roland, OK 74954.
