Research and Publication Committee

Aid Tribal fish and wildlife professionals navigate, pursue and apply the different aspects of contemporary research related issues including research guidance, data sovereignty, professional growth, funding, publications and academia involvement.

We have been having a lot of discussions around research in Indian Country, including TEK, authorship, IRBs, data ownership/protection, etc.  We are also seeing an increase in requests from members asking for assistance accessing scientific literature.  There are several NAFWS members with expertise in each of these areas and a desire to work on each…”

The Native American Fish & Wildlife Society recognizes the discussions and concerns regarding research on and about Tribal lands, resources and people. In December 2021, the NAFWS approved the creation of the Research and Publication Committee to aid in providing assistance in navigating research, authorship, data sovereignty, research impact and resources.

2024 meeting times will be announced soon!

In Recognition of Their Support

The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society would like to thank those organizations that provided us with support over the years. With them we grew an effective national communications network for the exchange of information and management techniques related to self-determined tribal fish and wildlife management.
