2023 USFWS Gray Wolf Statement – EXTERNAL

Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a reinstatement rule for gray wolf in the federal register. While the gray wolf had protection under the 2022 court order that vacated the 2020 delisting rule, this action administratively corrects the Code of Federal Regulations to comply with the 2022 court order.

The Service is continuing to work on updating the status review and intends to submit a proposed rule concerning the listing status of gray wolves in the lower-48 by February 2, 2024.
