40-hour CLEO Training


Co-hosted by:
Native American Fish and Wildlife Society, Joel Hardin Professional Tracking Services, and the Colville Tribe
This is a multi-day, in-person event from August 18-22 in Omak, WA, where participants will learn human tracking tactics and techniques, applicable for wildlife law enforcement, missing persons and other criminal investigations. This 40+ hour course will be conducted Monday through Friday with both daytime and evening classroom and field training exercises covering these topics: How Do We Learn to See Sign? Understanding the Three Stages of Learning | JHPTS Introduction to Tracking Techniques | Seven Characteristics of a Footprint | Sign Marker Characteristics and their importance | Vehicle Approaches and Where to Find the First Print | Tracking and Team Security | Crime Scenes.
Students will need field gear suitable for weather conditions at training site. Required student aids include pen/pencil, notebook, small measuring tape, 3-cell flashlight and a 3”x5” mirror. JHPTS may request students to bring additional equipment which will be defined at a later date.
Course Registration:
*NAFWS members receive exclusive registration access to this course until July 10.*
NAFWS members or Member Tribes: There will be no registration costs for NAFWS members or member Tribes.
NAFWS Non-member: If you are not a member or from a non-member Tribe, the cost of this course is $150.
Registration will be capped at 15 participants and limited to 2 officers per Tribe.
Lodging: Lodging will be the responsibility of the participant’s Tribal department. Please note that each registrant must make their own reservation at the 12 Tribes Omak Casino Hotel
